Today brought an unexpected delight to my inbox: my Steam Deck is making its way back home, set to arrive tomorrow afternoon. A black screen had rendered it unusable a few weeks back, despite my best efforts and numerous troubleshooting attempts based on Valve’s guidance. Although I managed to get it running with an external display, the main screen remained unresponsive. The process of sending it off for repair, surprisingly, was straightforward and hassle-free. Valve’s efficiency in handling repairs has truly impressed me, especially with how swiftly they’ve managed to return it.
The task ahead? Reinstalling all my games and applications. It’s been some time since I last navigated the setup of ROMs and emulators on a Steam Deck, so I plan to share this journey on my blog. The anticipation of reuniting with my Steam Deck, now as good as new, is exhilarating. Stay tuned for my upcoming post where I’ll delve into the nitty-gritty of getting everything up and running once again.
What have I been playing this week?
I didn’t get a chance to play much. But I did get NHL 24 this week for PS5 so I’ve been playing a bit of that with some friends online. It took me a bit to get back into it and the new controller scheme. But so far I’m liking what I see from it. It was my birthday on saturday, so I just took it easy, played a bit of NHL and ate some good food. On the retro side of things I haven’t played anything, I’m waiting on my Steam Deck to come back and I’ll be diving into some more retro stuff. I’ll keep you all posted.
